Forest engineer Janaina Dallan is one of the pioneers in Brazil in the development of projects to generate carbon credits with the preservation of the Amazon. For more than a decade, between the ups and downs of the market, she basically preached in the desert. It was a project here, a credit sale there. But since two years ago, the story has turned around. The growing demand from companies around the world to neutralize their greenhouse gas emissions is driving voluntary carbon credit exchanges, and her Carbonext, founded in 2010, has become one of the protagonists of a local market that is starting to structure itself on a more solid and scalable basis. In the last year and a half, Carbonext has built a bank of no less than 20 projects under simultaneous development, encompassing a total of 58 areas."
