Before the project was implemented, the Itaúba area suffered a deforestation rate of 0,66% annually, which is equivalent to 95 soccer fields being cut down every year. The main factors that led the region to lead the deforestation statistics were cattle ranching and agricultural activity (soybean on a larger scale and rice on a smaller scale).
In 2021, we began monitoring fauna and flora, carbon stock measurements, and developing income alternatives for extractivist communities.
