"At a time when Brazil is experiencing record-breaking deforestation rates in the Amazon, the carbon credit market has been able to enable unprecedented forest preservation projects in the country, with millions of hectares of native areas being monitored thanks to resources obtained from credit-generating projects. But the development of this sector is hindered by the fact that the Amazon is still a very hostile environment for business, where there is a lack of inspection by the authorities and confidence in the land ownership registries. The viability of the market requires a transformation of this environment, and the private sector has an important role in this transformation.
