We at Carbonext are proud to have always upheld best practices and complied with the highest global standards of socio-environmental and corporate integrity in all our activities. Integrity, after all, is the backbone of the concept of carbon credits, of which we are among the pioneers in Brazil. Integrity means that the certification of forest assets is carried out on an auditable basis, in accordance with international standards. In other words, the environmental compensation for carbon emissions actually corresponds to living, standing trees. Real ones. But integrity is much more than that. Integrity is the guarantee that a substantial part of the resources arising from the environmental bond will be applied directly to protecting the forest and benefiting the communities that live there. Carbon credit is much more than an economic activity, therefore. It is an ambitious and at the same time feasible economic solution inspired by the clean development mechanism, launched by the Kyoto Protocol (1997), to ensure conservation, sustainability, the environment, and contribute effectively to the solution of social problems in the Amazon, fight climate change and save the planet. For all of those reasons, Carbonext has always supported initiatives aimed at combating illegality and deforestation, and publicly praises the recent actions taken by public authorities to repress and eliminate all forms of fraud or criminal activities that threaten to corrupt the carbon credit chain. Our stance has always been, is and will be in defense of total transparency and full compliance with legal obligations. Law and ethics are our greatest allies. Our business depends on the public faith of documents issued by official bodies. For us, the State has a crucial and irreplaceable role. Amazon carbon credits mean wealth designed to overcome the false dilemma between development and sustainability. While undertaking the energy transition, companies need to offset their indirect emissions (called Scope 3). The environmental asset of the largest tropical forest in the world is an incomparable difference. This is a unique opportunity that Brazil cannot waste. To achieve this, law and order must prevail in the Amazon territory. We, at Carbonext, have always been inspired by the greatness of a mission that is to protect the Amazon and the future. For this reason, we would and will never tolerate lesser interests or visions interfering in something much bigger than us: life on the planet.
